Alternate Nostril Breathing - 5 Minutes
A balancing breathwork practice to calm the mind and restore inner clarity.
What it is:
Alternate Nostril Breathing (also known as Nadi Shodhana) is a gentle breathing technique from yogic tradition. It helps balance both sides of the brain and nervous system, supporting calm focus and emotional regulation.
This practice is especially helpful when you feel scattered, overstimulated, or energetically out of sync.
How it works:
You use your fingers to alternate breathing through one nostril at a time in a rhythmic pattern.
The basic pattern:
Close your right nostril and inhale through the left
Close your left nostril and exhale through the right
Inhale through the right
Close your right nostril and exhale through the left
→ This completes one round. Repeat for 5–10 rounds, or as needed.
Why it helps:
Balances left and right brain activity
Regulates and calms the nervous system
Increases mental clarity and emotional steadiness
Supports focus, presence, and energetic reset
When to use it:
Before meditation, journaling, or creative work
To reset your energy after screen time or stress
Anytime you feel emotionally or mentally imbalanced
As a grounding ritual to begin or end your day
